About Thailand Life Tools
Thailand Life Tools is a small set of free planning tools for people traveling to or staying in Thailand.
What the site helps you do
Each tool answers one practical planning question:
- Trip Checker: how long your trip is, and which public holidays and listed alcohol sales bans fall within your dates. The public holidays can be saved as a calendar file.
- Public holidays: Thailand’s public holidays by year, with government-office and bank closures listed separately, and a calendar file of each year’s public holidays.
- Alcohol sales rules: Buddhist holy days with an alcohol sales ban, election-related bans we have records for, and general sales hours.
- Trip budget calculator: totals for the amounts you enter, per person and for your group.
- Monthly cost of living planner: your recurring expenses converted to monthly and yearly totals.
- TDAC information: the official Thailand Digital Arrival Card website and what its guide says.
- Travel checklist: what to prepare before and during a trip, with links to official sources.
- VAT refund estimator: an estimate of the tourist VAT refund on the purchases you enter, from the Revenue Department’s refund table.
- Today in Thailand: whether today is a holiday and whether alcohol can be sold right now, in Thailand time.
- Thailand essentials: emergency numbers, Thailand time and the Thai Buddhist year, from official sources.
- Money exchange and price calculator: baht conversion, a check of exchange offers against a reference rate, and menu prices with service charge and VAT.
- Thai Buddhist year converter: Buddhist Era years and Thai dates to Gregorian and back.
- Long weekends: long weekends and bridge days from the public holiday calendar.
- Weather by month: average rain and temperatures for 17 places from official 1991–2020 climate normals.
- Living in Thailand: lease rules, TM30 and 90-day notices, drinking water, paying by phone, SIM cards and utility bills, with sources.
- First month in Thailand checklist: what to sort out when you move to Thailand.
Who it is for
Tourists and short-term visitors planning a trip, and people staying in Thailand for longer who want to check dates and rules. Pages are available in English and Korean.
Information can be incomplete or change
Holidays, alcohol rules, and entry requirements are set by Thai authorities and can be added, moved, or changed at short notice. Our lists may be incomplete, and some dates are announced late. Where we know a list is incomplete, the page says so.
This site is not a government service and does not give legal or immigration advice. Before you rely on a date or rule, confirm it with the official source.
How to read sources and review dates
Pages list the sources we used, each with a label for its type: legal text, official explanation, official institution, or secondary source. Official sources are preferred; a secondary source is never presented as official.
“Last updated” is the date we last reviewed that page’s information. It is not the date a rule took effect, and it does not mean that nothing has changed since.
If we could not find an official date or statement for something, we leave it out or say that it is missing, rather than guessing.
Weather and rates at the top of each page
Bangkok weather: MET Norway Locationforecast, licensed under CC BY 4.0 (api.met.no). Baht rates: European Central Bank reference rates via Frankfurter (frankfurter.dev). Both are refreshed at most every 30 minutes; the rates change once each working day.
