Your inputs are processed on your device

The tools run entirely in your browser. Pages also read your device’s clock to show Thailand’s date and time or the current month. The dates, traveler counts, places, expenses, store names, rates and amounts you enter are not sent to any server, analytics or advertising service, and the site keeps none of them. Apart from the two checklists described below, they are not saved in cookies or browser storage.

The Trip Checker can also give you a calendar file (.ics) of the public holidays in your results. The file is created in your browser and saved on your device like any other download; it is not sent to any server. The holiday calendar pages offer the same kind of file for a whole year, which contains only the published holiday list and nothing you entered.

No page asks for your name, email address, passport details, nationality or other personal information, and there are no accounts. If you email us (see About), we receive what you send and use it only to reply.

Sharing happens only when you choose to

Some results can be shared. When you press “Share” or “Copy link”, your dates and the place you chose are written into the link’s address, so that messengers can show a preview of that trip. When the link or its preview is opened, our preview function on Amazon Web Services reads only those dates and the place to draw the preview, keeps no record of them, and sends the visitor on to the homepage. Amounts, nationality and passport details are never put in a link.

A shared receipt image is drawn in your browser and contains what the page showed you. It leaves your device only when you send it with the app you choose, such as a messenger, and then that app and the people you send it to can see it, including the dates.

When someone opens a shared link, the page reads the dates from the link, removes them from the address bar before any other script runs, and shows the result on their device. Nothing is sent to us.

Bangkok weather and baht rates in the header

Each page asks this site’s own server for Bangkok’s current weather and the baht reference rates shown at the top. Our server gets them from MET Norway (weather) and the Frankfurter service (European Central Bank reference rates) and keeps them for up to 30 minutes. That request carries nothing about you or your inputs, and those services never see your device. Thailand’s date there comes from your device’s clock.

Reference exchange rate, only when you ask for it

On the money exchange page, the button “Load today’s reference rate” asks the Frankfurter exchange-rate service (api.frankfurter.dev) for the European Central Bank reference rate of the currency you chose. Only the currency code is sent; no amounts or other inputs. Like any website your browser connects to, the service receives your IP address and browser type. Nothing is requested unless you press the button; you can type a rate yourself instead.

Saved on this device only where a feature needs it: the checklists

The travel checklist saves which items you have ticked, whether items for longer stays are shown, and the optional trip choices you make there (trip length, types of places, activities). They are saved in your browser’s local storage on this device, so they are still there when you come back, until you remove them. They are not sent to any server and are not shared with us. The checklist has no text fields and asks for no dates, so nothing else is saved.

To remove them, use “Clear checklist” on the checklist page, which also resets your trip choices, or clear this site’s data in your browser settings.

The first month in Thailand checklist saves only which items you have ticked, in the same way. Use “Clear ticks” on that page to remove them.

Analytics, cookies, and advertising

The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and measure how fast pages load. Each page loads a script from Cloudflare (static.cloudflareinsights.com), which sends Cloudflare information about the page view, such as the page address, the referring website and your browser type, along with page load timing. As with any website you connect to, Cloudflare also receives your IP address. Cloudflare states that Web Analytics uses no cookies or local storage and does not identify individual visitors (no fingerprinting).

Your tool inputs are not sent to Cloudflare: page addresses carry no inputs (shared dates are removed from the address before the analytics script runs), and the site sends no analytics events of its own.

The site shows no advertising. Its own code sets no cookies. Apart from the Cloudflare analytics script, pages load no scripts, fonts, or images from other websites.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Amazon Web Services (Amazon S3 and Amazon CloudFront). When your browser requests a page, AWS receives the technical information any website receives, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, and handles it under its own privacy practices.

Links to other websites

Pages link to official and other sources. When you follow a link, you leave this site, and that website’s own privacy practices apply.

Possible future changes

Advertising or affiliate links may be added later, and the analytics may change. If so, this notice will be updated before the change takes effect, and:

  • tool inputs will not be sent to analytics or advertising services. An affiliate link may carry your trip dates and destination city so a search opens ready, but only when you click it; budget amounts, expenses, traveler details and other inputs will never be put in a link;
  • commercial links will be clearly separated from official sources;
  • anything that would need your consent, such as advertising that uses cookies, will ask for it before it is turned on.
